Move Over KimYe, This Wedding Video is Packed with Stars!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re already well aware that KimYe (ie. the fortunate / unfortunate – pending your feelings – combination of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West) took the plunge from pre-nup pups to legit Mr. and Mrs. this past weekend in Italy.

What has been described as a lavish affair, included a list of celebrity A-listers as guests, a teary eyed mother of the bride, an adorable 11 month year old daughter of the pairing and of course… THE Dress.

Well, one of them any way; it’s been reported that homegirl sported up to four between the Parisian and Italian wedding event extravaganza, but since my invite OBVS got lost in the mail, I can neither confirm nor deny said rumor.

Haha :)

But alas, I digress… because as most of us know, we’d expect nothing less from a “power” couple who have become just as infamous as famous when it comes to their media saturated life. So, while I’m not enough of a hater AND far too much of a hope-FULL romantic to wish the couple anything but the best and years of cheers and happiness, I also have to take it with a grain of salt.

Because my favorite kind of love stories, are the normal, average, every day ones that are moved to a higher standing based on the love itself.

With that all being said, however, I also love love love me some celebrities ;) (I know, I know, I’m talking in circles… but keep up, people!) Which is why the below video – created by Sky News entertainment reporter, Joe Michalczuk, for his fiance – combines the best of both worlds!

While interviewing celebrities for their upcoming movies, he asked several to send warm words of encouragement and well wishes to his future Mrs. *Awww!* And what transpired was awesome… sans the whole Arnold part… I mean seriously, dude, get it together. Haha!

Let it Go: Elsa Inspired Wedding Dresses

courtesy of eliesaab.com

courtesy of eliesaab.com

Now that we’re thawed out from winter and well into spring, it’s time to get fired up for “Frozen” wedding dresses that are to die for! Okay, okay, so maybe they’re not exactly from “Frozen” or Elsa, but that doesn’t stop them from being all kinds of amazing… and just the perfect bit of bling for brides this summer!

**And my apologies if you just this week got the theme song out of your head, only to have me put it back in today… whoops ;)

While I really am sorry about the song, I couldn’t be further from apologetic when it comes to these dresses. From ice blues and frosted whites, to completely bedazzled to barely blinged, these wedding dresses are all kinds of fabulous… albeit, out of budget for some… but still pretty to fantasize about by all :)

And even though they are inspired by a title that is more well suited for winter months, these gowns are still absolute perfection for spring and summer wedding planning.  First, what girl doesn’t love a little bling. Second, blue has been the number one (or at least close to the coveted top spot) wedding color for the over the few past decades; so, it’ll easily work well with every trendy bride.

And third, well, just look at these dreams!! Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall… I don’t care! I’d make them work in any kind of climate ;)

Here they are!

Best Wedding Hairdos for Bridesmaids

courtesy of lilyandiris.com

courtesy of lilyandiris.com

I have several weddings coming up — shocking, I know :) — and while I’m excited for all of them… I am especially geeked for my girlfriend Katy’s.  (Wad up, girl!)  Affectionately known as “Mama” for taking care of all of us in college, she is getting married to her dream boat, Andrew, this June on her parent’s farm in good ‘ole Ogilville, Indiana.

Blessed to be one of her bridesmaids, Mama just had us all pick out our own dresses from jenjenhouse.com under the stipulations they had to be chiffon, pearl pink and floor length.  While these might seem like limiting restrictions, nothing could be further from the truth.  Even after selecting these three items, we still had 300+ dresses to choose from.  Strapless, spaghetti, one shoulder, off shoulder, halters, asymmetricals, lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

With each bridesmaid picking a dress as different as our different but equally as fabulous as our personalities, we began to think about hair.  This discussion – of course – came up for me immediately when picking a dress.  (It’s all about the hair and makeup with me, duh!)

I was wavering between a ruffly strapless and a one shoulder, low back number, but in the end, went with the strapless, knowing my hair options would be limited less… Ridiculous, right?  Wrong!  When I brought it up to some of the other girls, I realized they were all doing the exact same thing – haha!

Depending on the neckline, there are simply hairdos that aesthetically work better.  Now, let’s be real, in the end, every lady can do whatever she wants, but below are some of the most choice options we came up with for each unique neckline :)

… Laura’s Dress …

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  With the high neck being completed with a flair of flower, it’s best to avoid anything to busy or mussy that would interfere with its already jazzy look.  I’d recommend doing something sleeker, more polished.  Try a modern french twist, glossy, glamorous pony tail or high bun.

… Nellie’s Dress …

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  This dress is very symmetrical with a low cut back; so, it’d be fun to play with that.  If you have long hair, keep it hair down and dress it up in waves or for shorter ‘dos, try either a side-swept or straight-on chignon.

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  I absolutely love the whimsy of this elegantly mature dress.  It’s formal without being dowdy, but for girls worrying a dress like this might come off otherwise, I would recommend complimenting the dress’ more womanly lines with something messy and carefree… something extra girly :)

… My Dress …

courtesy of jenjenhouse.com

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  As stated above, with strapless, your hairdo is not limited by the neckline; therefore, you have more options.  I find it best to look to the style of the dress for your hair-spiration.  In this case, I’d like to play up the either the flow of the dress and go with big barrel curls or the flower and do something Bohemian.

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  With it’s one shoulder asymmetry, as well as it’s fun pleating, this dress would look great with a complimentary, side-swept do or a low, frilly ponytail, centered in the back and accented with a bubble bouffant top.

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  Okay, so I love the dramatic sophistication of this dress.  With it’s deep V and polished tie front, the proper hairdo should be equally as glamorous.  I’d recommend taking note of Old Hollywood hairstyles — something sleek, chic and stylish.

Best ‘Dos for the Dress.  While this dress is also a one-shoulder standout, it also has a considerable Grecian feel to it, as well, and whenever a dress – regardless of its neckline – gives off a particular style era, it’s always super fun to take hair-spiration from that.  In this case, Grecian goddess, I’d recommend braids and twists – both side-swept or centered :)

Sweet Mother of Pearl, Kimye is Engaged

courtesy of thatsenuff.com

courtesy of thatsenuff.com

And look how excited they are to read my headline – haha!  Sometimes, I just kill me :)

Anyhoot, you heard me right, my little chick-a-dees. Kim K. + Kanye = Kimye is making it official.  Flying off the media explosion coattails of their daughter, North West’s birth and the great weight debate her incubation caused, newly dubbed parents, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, have officially announced they’ll be newly…weds, as well.  (Classic, pun.)

According to WonderWall – MSN’s link to all things celebrity – Kanye surprised Kim K. with a proposal and FATTY diamond for her 33rd birthday.  Seriously, look at that thing!  Even blurred, it’s huge!

courtesy of wonderwall.msn.com

courtesy of wonderwall.msn.com

Popping the question in front of their friends and family at AT&T Park in San Francisco, which Kanye conveniently had rented out, the high profiling socialite was clearly ecstatic to agree.

This will be Kim’s third walk down the aisle. She married her first husband, Damon Thomas in 2000, and her second, more infamous marriage was to the Boston Celtic forward, Kris Humphries, back in 2011.  But you know what they say… third time’s a charm :)  Just as notably, however, this will be Kanye’s first marriage; while he had long engagement to one time designer girlfriend, Alexis Phifer, the two split after an 18 month engagement run back in 2006.

Now, call it the hope-FULL romantic in me, but I’m really rooting for these two!  Heck, if you can’t believe in love, what can you believe in?

Plus, I don’t care who you are – whether you hate to love them or love to hate them – but there’s no denying that the result of their DNA match up would be hands down one of the CUTEST flower girls ever!!  Go ahead, just look at that face… and tell me I’m lying!

You can’t!!  She’s just too presh!

Kongrats, Kimye, and here’s hoping round three is everything we all hope it will be… right, Kim?  *Tee-hee*

Honeymoon Hotness: 7 Budget Friendly, Wardrobe Must Haves for Every Bride

courtesy of bridalmusings.com

courtesy of bridalmusings.com

As a stunning and smart bride to be, I can almost guarantee that you are as prepared as you are polished.  You’ve – no doubt – booked your makeup artist months in advance.  You’ve bought, fit and lavished in your wonderful and drop dead DIVA gown. You’ve sat in your hairdresser’s chair about five different times just to get the wedding day ‘do down to a T.  Even your STUNNA shoes are more than likely quietly nestled in the designer box in your closet…  For serious, you’re a genius.

But with all these wedding day details in line; something is surely to fall by the wayside.  One such area for many brides is often time (dun, dun, dun!) the Honey*swoon!

Obvs, the next natural step after being a bridal beauty is morphing into a honeymoon hottie!  But if this is something that has slipped your mind, have no fear, my dears!   I’m here to give 7 go-to items that will easily turn budgeting brides into vacay vixens!

1. Chic + Sleek Romper.  These beauties have been one of the hottest trends for the past few years.  Providing a chicer take on the one-piece revival, these mini rompers act as a dress/shorts combo that lets the body breathe in scorching temps.  And the best part?  It’s already a complete outfit… giving you a seriously stylish two-for-one dealio… and more moolah to accessorize!  Duh!

2. Straw Fedora.  As you’ve undoubtedly booked the most luxurious hot spot you could afford, why not accessorize just as lavishly?  Not only will this celebrity favorite keep you shaded, cool and protected, but it will also have you looking impossibly chic.  And if you think this style comes with a celeb price tag, think again, my little chick-a-dees.  One of these beauties fetches for about $13 at Target!

3. Retro Sunglasses.  From aviators to cat eyes and fluorescent shades in between, sunglasses are all about blasting to the past!  And when you’re honey-swooning, it’s important to keep the pestering paparazzi off your back… or at the very least, have some fun pretending!  Not too mention, sunglasses are a dime a dozen and cost about just as much; so, if the ocean ends up taking them, you’ll be able to keep your moody blues at bay :)

4. Boyfriend Blazer.  Hellllllooo!  Not only is this tailored look all the rage right now - following in the fashionable footsteps of its kin, the boyfriend jeans and the boyfriend tee -, but your new hubby probably already has one.  Just raid his closet, throw it on over a cute dress, a one piece romper or even jeans and a men’s daily tee and voila!  You have an instantly adorable boyfriend – I mean hubby! – blazer :)

5. All White Outfits.  I know some brides might be a little sentimental at the thought of wearing all white again especially right after their big day, but trust&believe me this trend is SO in!  Slip on some hot pants (what else was that bridal bootcamp for?), a wife beater, and a ridiculous amount of gold jewelry and you’ll be the hotter than the white sand beach you’re struttin’ on, sassy pants ;)

6.  Flip Flops.  After dancing your wedding night away in some absolutely fabulous, blister-instigating heels, your feet are going to need a serious break. Which is why some good old classic flip flops are an absolute MUST for the honey*swoon. Slip these bad boys on and it’s like you’re walking on a cloud of heavenly relief.  And if you’re a girl who needs a little more sparkle, Marilyn’s Keepsakes has some fabulous rhinestone-studded flops that you can personalize for a truly fabulous touch.  You gotta love us :)

7. Sunscreen.  Don’t be a silly sunner!  Keep yourself and your beautiful skin protected.  I promise, you can still return with that fabulous honeymoon / newlywed glow — without completely damaging your most viewable asset :)

Celebrity Status: Wedding, Hot Hollywood Starlets Who’ve Found Their Leading Men

Recently, I did a post about famed celebutantes who took a backseat to their nuptial-toting friends in Celebrity Bridesmaids: Which Stars Have Stepped Out Of The Spotlight & Into Second Place.  But there must be something in the water among the celebrity elite, because it seems as though more and more of our favorite staaahhhs are saying “Yes!”… yes to the dress… yes to the I do’s… and yes to everything else that a wedding day ensues — looky there, I’m a regular Poet Laurete.

Legit, you can’t turn on a TV without hearing of the next celebrity who recently took the plunge into pre-wedding planning!  (Okay, well, maybe you can, but for someone so openly obsessed with celebrity gossip?  It’s borderline impossible – ha!)  And while I do my fair share of gardening, reading and concert going during the summer months, you best Trust(&)Believe I still take time to catch up on all finest news of the famous this side of the E! Network :)

But regardless of where you fall on the celebrity stalker scale, there is no denying the pull Hollywood has over the world.  Between their star studded, red carpet events to their over the top celebrations, vacations, threads, digs and plans, stars are constantly in the spotlight, and as such spotlighting demeans, at the forefront of trends!

So, while all the ladies below are still “in waiting,” I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m already dyin’ to know who will be the most jaw dropping, knock down, drag out, over-the-top bride of the bunch!

And while only time will tell such truths as above, you can be for darn sure, in the interim, I will be anxiously awaiting my all but guaranteed invite by the mailbox.  Ladies, my address is still the same :)

Real Life Princess Brides: Top 10 Royal Wedding Looks

courtesy of tumblr.com

courtesy of tumblr.com

Okay, unless you’ve bee living under a rock, you know Britain’s favorite royal family welcomed their newest family member, Prince (whose name will be revealed “in due time”) yesterday afternoon, July 22, 2013 at 4:24pm.  That’s right.  I pay attention, people :)  Third in line to throne – behind his grandfather, Prince Charles and father, Prince William – the newest member of the House of Windsor finally made his much anticipated debut!

“What does this have to do with weddings?” one may ask.

Well, everything!!  As the already famous, royal bundle is the son of one of my favorite / best looking brides of all time, Kate Middleton aka Catherine, Duchess of Wales!  Duh!

courtesy of today.com

Seriously, it’s been two years, and I still get chills. #nerd

Anyhoot, this got me thinking about how many other royal wedding brides have “ooh’ed” and “aww’ed” crowds over the years.  Surely, we can all be honest enough to admit the idea of being royalty is – if nothing else – a very intriguing concept.

For me, however, it is so much more than that!  In fact, it is much, MUCH more than just intriguing :)  For cereal, to be a real life princess?  Get out!  Of course, I’m not naive enough to think any real life princesses’ “life in the limelight” is all flowers, rainbow, glamor and Disney songs.  I get it.  It can’t be easy…

Buuuuutttttt, I’m not really one to focus on the negative or the daily struggles of real life reality.  (& yes, I totally just said real life reality, haha!)  So, let’s just focus on some of my fave Princess Brides Throughout History… shall we?  Below is my Top 10!

#10 Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms. Got to start somewhere; so, why not with this pretty little lady, who happens to be the newest royal’s great grandmother!

#9 Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.  The first time I saw this dress, I seriously couldn’t get enough! Lace and sparkles and frills… oh my!

#8 Marie-Chantal Claire, Crown Princess of Greece.  Both traditional and whimsical, this wedding gown is simple AND simply divine!

#7 Princess Claire of Belgium.  It’s off the shoulder lace at its finest!

#6 Princess Michael of Kent. Can’t help but dig the groovy nature of this 1970s styled gown :)

#5 Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark.  Love love love everything about this look, especially the expression on her face — so happy and in love, just like every bride should be!

#4 Queen Rania of Jordan.  Seriously?!  So, so pretty!!  Talk about winning the DNA lotto :)

#3 Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.  Okay, I know I already showed her once, but what can I say?  That dress?  Def worthy of a double take :)

#2 Diana, Princess of Wales.  While I agree that the dress may be a bit over-the-top, there’s no denying the face within it is a “once in a lifetime” kind of beauty.  Princess Diana, mother of Prince William, would’ve been the recent royal baby’s grandmother — can’t believe she’s been gone for 16 years!

Celebrity Bridesmaids: Which Stars Have Stepped Out Of The Spotlight & Into Second Place

courtesy of shemakescents.com

courtesy of shemakescents.com

No matter how high your star status may rise, not even famed celebrities are safe from serving as ‘maids, and I was love love loving finding out who served it best :)

I mean, anyone who’s ever visited our blog knows that this bloggess loves her some celebrity news!  Be it gossip, what they wore, where they were spotted or who they were spotted with, I am most def a celeb news junkie.  While I’m very well aware that it’s mayhaps not the healthiest of obsessions, I’m even more aware that it’s not the worst one either.

And it is with that celebrity obsessed justification system in place that I will remain as such :)

Anyhoot, after I saw MSN’s homepage featuring an article to their Wonderwall site: Celebs Who’ve Been Bridesmaids, I KNEW that not only would I would read it, but I would have to pass it on to you all as well!

I mean, how awesome is this??  Movie Stars.  Rock Stars.  Reality Stars.  Etc.  They are all used to being one thing… The Star.  But let’s just call a spade a spade here, people.  These famed folks might rule the roost everywhere else, but when it comes to another lady’s wedding day, there is one star and one star only… The Bride!!  So, check out below to see some of the biggest stars playing a maiden role :)

Lady Gaga.  The generally over the top celebutante toned it way, way down for her BF Bo O’Connor’s Cabo San Lucas nuptials this past weekend.  And Lord KNOWS I love me some Lady Gaga; so, if that side of beef meat dress wearing, I-Show-Up-To-Award-Shows-Egglike-Cocoons can do it… anyone can!

Jessica Simpson.  Not once, not twice, but (at least) three times this lady has been a bridesmaid.  And I gotta give the blonde bombshell some serious props for her commitment to her friends, because everyone knows being pregnant in a wedding can sometimes be a bit of a burden, but J. Simp??  She might have been the most pregnant bridesmaid of them all!!  Shown below at friend Lauren Zelman’s wedding last March 2012 and again – a little more slim – at her BF CaCee’s wedding to Donald Faison a little later in the year.

Jessica Biel.  After serving as a bridesmaid to her former 7th Heaven co-star’s, Beverly Mitchell’s wedding, (with another former co-star, I might add!) as another ‘maid back in ’08, the now Mrs. Timberlake also went all wedding party one more time in 2011 in New York.  Shown below with the rest of the wedding party in a bridesmaid dress of her choosing :)

Selena Gomez.  Both beautiful and sweet, this former Disney Channel star proved there’s no such thing as being too young to walk down the aisle in the name of a friend’s nuptials!  Shown below with her date, Justin Bieber (rolls eyes), in Cabo San Lucas for her stylist friend’s wedding day celebration!

Keep the ‘Prints’ Charming Train Rolling: Patterned, Pretty Wedding Gowns

courtesy of onewed.com

courtesy of onewed.com

In light of Tuesday’s post: Pattern Solving 101: 2013 Weddings are WILD about Prints, I couldn’t very well open the door to its magnificence without walking through the power it has over wedding dresses too! That’s rights, ladies and gents, 2013 is all about wedding gowns featuring a little extra something something when it comes to their prints and patterns, and after further review, I have no choice but to give this trend two thumbs way, WAY up :)

I mean, I still get celeb-envy whenever I think about Jessica Biel’s wedding dress from her nuptial celebration to Justin Timberlake back in October.  Of course, it’s not just the dress to be envious of… <insert my favorite, former boy bad stud here>… *droooools*  (MARY!! Contain yourself!  PLEASE!)

Okay, I’m back :)

Anyhoot, hubby love aside, it was Jessica’s dress that truly had heads turning and eyes popping!  Who can forget the cover of People Magazine’s November 5, 2012 issue where Suit & Tie clad JT and Jessie B. graced us with what is no doubt a knock out gown??

courtesy of People Magazine

courtesy of People Magazine

Patterned, pink and unbelievably pretty, the now Mrs. Timberlake won rave reviews for her avant-garde gown choice, and it’s not difficult to see why!  In an interview with Elle Magazine, Biel opened up to her bold choice:

“I wanted the dress to be very romantic and feminine and a shape that I very rarely wear. I have never been crazy about all-white wedding dresses, for me at least. [Giambattista Valli] had created that same fabric in a fuchsia-and-pink combination for a dress in a previous collection, and I asked him if he could create that same pattern in a white combination, and he suggested pink. It was a bit of a leap of faith at the time, but it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. [Putting it on], I felt like I had made the right choice. I felt elegant. And it moved like a dream.” (Elle Magazine Interview, courtesy of huffingtonpost.com)

Now, I know their are grandmothers out there – heck, there are even modern day brides with an affinity for all things traditional – that probably think this is the worst, most over-the-top idea ever!  However, I’m not so sure :)

I think of how much even a “traditional” wedding dress can have going on, even if the overall color (or lack there of) is white and white only.  From beading and lace overlays to fabrics, structures and cuts, some of the most traditional gowns already take on the look of a print or pattern.  Depending on the style of bead or lace work and even the construction of the dress itself can create a type of pattern or print look already.  Maybe they don’t have the color to accompany them, but the patterned bones of their more colorful counterparts are most definitely already at play!

Still hesitant? Check out below for some of my favorite patterned dreams and see if things don’t change… even if just a little :)

Wedding Trend Alert: It’s All About Opulent Ombre

As with so many other trends, we can thank the likes of celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Ashlee Simpson, ones with Jessica in their name (Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker etc.) and pretty much every girl from The Hills / Laguna Beach / MTV era for taking this insanely gorgeous trend and setting it above all the rest.

Of course, when it comes to these famously celebrated celebutantes and trend setting, it started with thier most noticeable accessory – their hair!!! – and shading it from dark to light and vice versa.  This gradual color change created a one a kind look that is equally fabulous as it is amazing, and one that didn’t go unnoticed for long!

I mean where was SJP and LC and all these other ombre-colored cuties during my painstakingly awkward high school years?  I could’ve really used their celebrity approved status to make my dark roots and bleached tips look fashionably on trend, rather than hideously off base.  Heck, I’ve been rockin’ the ombre look since the early 2000′s – back when it wasn’t even near being considered trendy but trashy, haha!  OMG!  Did I set this trend into play?? I did, didn’t I!!?? I knew it.

Okay, so while I’m not delusional enough to believe I set this trend into play (…), I do know it is something worth celebrating, regardless of who did or didn’t start it.  *cough, cough*

And – OBVI! – one area that has really started to love on the ombre is a lady’s favorite day – her wedding day!  That’s right, my lovelies, wedding days and all their accessible accessories have taken this grand nod to color change and make it a uniquely beautiful part of the I do.

Everything from the dress and shoes to the table centerpieces, flowers and more have all been illuminated in the this beautifully shaded ombre look, and after taking a gander myself online, I can’t say I blame them!  Check out below and see what I mean:
